Anti Ragging

🛡️ Zero Tolerance: Anti-Ragging Initiative at RIMAS

The Royal Institute of Management and Advanced Studies (RIMAS), an NCTE-approved college offering both B.Ed. and D.Ed. programs, strictly adheres to the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009. We are committed to fostering a safe, friendly, and respectful environment for all students. Ragging is strictly prohibited on campus, in hostels, or anywhere else, and we enforce a Zero Tolerance Policy against this criminal offense.

Understanding Ragging as per UGC

As defined by the UGC, ragging is any act that falls under the following categories:

  • Any disorderly conduct, whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any student.1

  • Indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities that are likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm.

  • Asking the student to do any act or perform something which they would not willingly do and which causes or generates a sense of shame, embarrassment, or danger to life.2

  • Causing or attempting to cause any physical or psychological harm or inducing fear or apprehension in any fresher or any other student.3

🚨 Anti-Ragging Mechanism at RIMAS

To ensure a ragging-free campus, RIMAS has established a robust mechanism in line with UGC guidelines:

1. Anti-Ragging Committee (ARC)

The ARC is the primary administrative body responsible for overseeing the policy and ensuring its strict implementation. It includes faculty, administrative staff, police representatives, local media representatives, and student representatives.

2. Anti-Ragging Squad (ARS)

The ARS comprises faculty members and staff who conduct surprise checks at vulnerable locations (hostels, canteen, bus stops, common areas) and take immediate action against offenders.

3. Student Undertakings

All students and their parents/guardians are required to submit an online undertaking every academic year, confirming that they understand the policy and will not indulge in ragging.

4. Disciplinary Action

Any student found guilty of ragging, in any form, will face immediate and severe disciplinary action, which may include:

  • Suspension or rustication from the college.

  • Withholding of results or degrees.

  • Filing a criminal complaint with the local police, leading to imprisonment and/or fines.4
