🏃‍♀️ Fostering Wellness: The Physical Education Resource Center

At the Royal Institute of Management and Advanced Studies (RIMAS), an NCTE-approved institution for both B.Ed. and D.Ed. programs, we recognize that physical health and sports education are integral components of a child’s development and a teacher’s training. Our dedicated Physical Education Resource Center (or Lab) provides the facilities and resources necessary to equip our future educators with the knowledge and practical skills to promote fitness, organize sports, and conduct effective health and physical education classes.

Resources for Practical Training

The center is designed to support the theoretical and practical aspects of the Physical Education curriculum required by the NCTE.

  • Sports Equipment: We maintain a comprehensive stock of equipment for major indoor and outdoor sports, including:

    • Team Sports: Equipment for games like Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Kho-Kho, and Cricket.

    • Individual Sports: Materials for Athletics (track and field), Badminton, and other individual skill-based activities.

    • Gymnastic and Fitness Gear: Basic fitness training equipment to demonstrate and practice fundamental exercises.

  • Instructional Aids: The resource center houses charts, models, and teaching aids related to:

    • Human Anatomy and Physiology: Charts illustrating the muscular and skeletal systems, essential for understanding movement and injuries.

    • Rules and Regulations: Reference materials detailing the official rules and officiating techniques for various games.

    • First Aid and Safety: Kits and instructional guides for basic sports injury management and promoting safety in physical activities.

  • Physical Infrastructure: While a lab, our facilities extend to spacious playgrounds and courts (details found elsewhere on the site) where the practical application of the knowledge gained is executed.

Key Pedagogical Objectives for Future Teachers

The Physical Education Resource Center is crucial for developing competent and confident PE instructors:

  • Organizing Competitions: Students receive hands-on training in organizing and managing sports events and field days, including creating fixtures and maintaining records.

  • Demonstration Skills: Trainees practice demonstrating physical exercises, yoga poses, and game techniques accurately, a vital skill for classroom instruction.

  • Health and Wellness Education: The center’s resources support the teaching of health, hygiene, nutrition, and lifestyle choices, enabling future teachers to guide students toward a healthier life.

  • Inclusive Activities: Emphasis is placed on adapting games and physical activities to be inclusive of all students, including those with special needs.

At RIMAS, we ensure that every graduate is not only academically sound but also capable of being a catalyst for a healthy and active school environment.
